With over four decades of courtroom and appellate experience, D. Russell Thomas is one of Middle Tennessee’s most accomplished and respected personal injury attorneys. Raised in Cannon County and based in Murfreesboro, Mr. Thomas has dedicated his career to protecting the rights of injured individuals and families throughout Tennessee.
A graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and Memphis State University’s College of Law, Mr. Thomas was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 1978 and to the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Eastern Districts of Tennessee. He is also a 2019 graduate of the Keenan Trial Institute, one of only 1,350 attorneys nationwide to complete the program in advanced trial techniques.
Mr. Thomas has helped shape Tennessee injury law through frequent appearances before the Tennessee Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and Workers’ Compensation Panel. His deep commitment to improving the legal profession is reflected in his 14 years of service on the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association Board of Governors, his authorship of Automobile Liability in Tennessee (published in Trial Magazine), and his ongoing role as a lecturer for statewide legal seminars since 1992.
